Golf is a great activity for children to take part in. It allows the golf children to hit the ball hard, hit it far, and walk for miles in beautiful outdoor settings. It also teaches children lessons in safety, respecting others, good etiquette, and how to play by the rules. By teaching golf children, it can help develop a life long interest between parent and child, or even child and grandparent.

There are many courses that cater to golf children. If your child shows promise, and enthusiasm for the game, you can take them to a driving range to practise their swing, or even enrol them on golfing lessons with your local golf course, or even a golfing academy.
When choosing an instructor to teach golf children, it is important to enquire about such things as; their personal golfing experience and professional accomplishments, professional coaching qualifications, experience with teaching young children, their recommendations for group or individual lessons, their availability, and of course the cost.

|
When taking your children onto the golf course it is important for them to be dressed appropriately as you would be yourself. Many clubs have etiquette rules and dress codes such as; no jeans, no trainers, no t-shirts, and dress code is trousers, collared shirts and appropriate golfing shoes.
|
It is important to get the appropriate attire for golf not only for etiquette, but for your child to be able to play the game correctly. What you wear affects your swing, and ability to hit the ball correctly. It is important to ensure that the clothes fit well too, that they are not too tight or too baggy, so do take them to try the clothes on before purchasing to get the correct size.
One of the most important purchases a golfer can have is the right clubs. Many golf clubs have shortened adult clubs, however this can damage the child's swing and cause injury as they will not be correctly weighted for a child's strength or grip. It can lead to flicks of the wrist and imbalance on the forward swing.

Junior clubs are ideally weighted and designed to suit golf children. Many manufacturers design their clubs to be 25% lighter, with the majority of the weight set as low as possible in the golf club head in order to get the ball in the air as high as possible, as quickly as possible.

When trying to teach your child how to play golf there are certain hints and tips that can help you on the way. Children's attention spans are short, and you should be sure to make lessons no longer than 30 minutes long.
It is recommended that there be 10 minutes of really learning, and 20 minutes of fun playing with the golf clubs, balls and equipment.
This is essential in the child's first lessons as it is important to associate going to the golf lessons with having fun.
|
It is also important not give golf children lessons as if they were in school. Learning about gripping the club will tend to be boring for the child, and it is important to let them play first for them to develop interest in the game. While you are following them around, offer them explanations of things that they are curious about, and they will soon allow you to teach them you skills on how to play the game.
When the child does something really well, it is important to commend their achievement and celebrate it. It can be fun for the child to be able to jump and down to celebrate putting the golf ball into the hole. This obvious display of enthusiasm and excitement only increases the child's desire to do more.
When talking to the child, it is important to communicate with them on their level. They won't understand a wide arc, or pivot, explain it to them as a big circle, or turn. Children need to understand first before they can execute what you are asking them to do.
The last thing to do is to have fun. Unless the lessons are fun, the child won't want to return, so make the most of your time on the field, and encourage them to do well, and praise them when they do.
